To the Point: The Respiratory Diaphragm - The Dome of Life

This webinar takes you inside the diaphragm: its anatomy, innervation, fascial continuities, and its role in organ mobility, circulation, and nervous system balance.

We connect classical anatomy with fascia science and energy perspectives, giving you a clearer map for precise and effective clinical work.

The respiratory diaphragm is more than a breathing muscle, it is a central regulator of pressure, rhythm, and communication between the thorax and abdomen.

In reflexology, we work its reflex routinely, but often without fully understanding its depth.

Anatomy and biomechanics
  • Structure: domes, crura, central tendon
  • Openings: aortic, esophageal, caval
  • Movement patterns in respiration
  • Relationship to ribs, spine, and sternum

Innervation and neurophysiology
  • Phrenic nerve and its significance
  • Vagus nerve interaction and autonomic regulation
  • Breathing and the brainstem
  • Clinical implications for stress and regulation

Fascia and continuity
  • Diaphragm within the fascial network
  • Links to psoas, pericardium, pleura, and peritoneum
  • Coupling with pelvic diaphragm, thoracic inlet, tentorium

Organ dynamics and pressure systems
  • Influence on liver, stomach, intestines
  • Venous and lymphatic return
  • Intra-abdominal and intrathoracic pressure balance
The diaphragm reflex in practice
  • Precise location and assessment on the foot
  • Techniques: release, modulation, integration
  • Linking diaphragm reflex to other key reflexes
Pathologies and dysfunction patterns
  • Restricted breathing patterns
  • Hiatal hernia, reflux, tension patterns
  • Chronic stress and diaphragm holding
  • Postural and musculoskeletal consequences
Energy and resonance perspective
  • Diaphragm as a rhythm and resonance interface
  • Breath, emotion, and energetic flow
  • Working with stillness and pauses in treatment

Clinical integration
  • How to structure a session with diaphragm focus
  • Case examples and practical takeaways

Touchpoint is well-known around the world for a high professional standard in reflexology. I recommend their teachings, which can widen your practice with great benefit.

- Hanne Marquardt - Black Forest, Germany -

Peter and Dorthe are internationally respected leaders in reflexology; both as practitioners and teachers. I encourage reflexologists everywhere to expand their theoretical horizons and integrate the hands-on techniques from this workshop in their daily practice. You and your clients will be happy with the results!

- Christine Issel - Sacramento, CA, USA -

Dorthe and Peter took a complicated subject like anatomy and made it very easy to understand as well as remember. They're phenonemal instructors that take necessary time with you as an individual to show you exactly where and how to work on your clients. This is easily one of the best reflexology classes I have taken.

- Chantal Magaruh - Nevada, USA -

Peter and Dorthe presented the most organized and professional training class I have ever attended in my adult life. As a 46-year-old veteran I have been through many classes from military training, to underwater welding, to different types of healing modalities. I was very impressed with the work Peter and Dorthe are doing. Thank you for the wealth of information I will be putting to valuable use. Cheers.

- Rigby Oughs - Boulder City, Nevada, USA -

Thank you much, Peter and Dorthe. You are both magnificent, so well-rounded and empathic, both as stellar individuals and as an exceptionally integrative and professional team. I am grateful to study with you both, such leading-edge pioneers!

- Petra van Noort, New York City -
